The notion that "women can not do math" "math sucks" and "can not be good if you Intelligent myths "are harmful to women and harm to society in general. The book," Math Does not Suck "is not better to exploit all those generalizations.
Danica McKellar, best known as "Winnie" on the agenda of the eighties TV show "The Wonder Years" "Not only a respected working actress, but a good mathematician, so. His new book," Math Does not Suck "was written to help middle school age girls learn math without affecting their popularity.
"I want to see girls embrace math they never thought that could, and to understand the importance of developing a strong mind. Math is a great enhancer of mind – which is like going to the gym for your brain! "Said Actress and mathematician Danica McKellar, in an interview with epidemiologist and blogger Tara C. Smith.
Ms. McKellar is also known for his role in "Inspector Mom," "The West Wing," "How I Met Your Mother," "Walker, Texas Ranger", "Babylon5" and "NCIS" and have done voices in video games like "X-Men Legends."
In Trivia mathematics, which is one of the only people in the world to have a finite number ErdQs Bacon, a person's professional degree of separation between the mathematician Paul ErdQs and actor Kevin Bacon.
Women have always suffered from a gender bias in mathematics, McKellar wants to try to do something about it. Besides serving as a model to continue working as an actress, and as a mathematician who has coauthored the "Chayes-McKellar-Winn" (on the mathematical physics), which helps raise funds for children with cancer at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, math teachers on its website and is the national spokesperson for Math-A-Thon.
No I think he's trying to create female nerds, though. Central to his book's message that girls can be attractive and popular and smart. This seems like a new take on "A Beautiful Mind."
